"Make 5 Dinners in One Hour" Review & Giveaway

How often do you hit a rut in the meal idea department?  I seem to fall off the cooking wagon every couple of months, and sometimes it will last for an entire month.  One would think a stay-at-home mom would have all the time in the world to come up with tasty meals three times a day, seven days a week.  (Yeah right!)  But the reality is, we’re just as busy as everyone else.  Whether you work outside the home or not, there are tons of people that just don’t know how to cook, so coming up with meal plans can be intimidating.
I’ve tried making meals ahead of time, but if I must be honest, I don’t always have the time or energy to gather a bunch of recipes and figure out what to make.  Some nights we just end up getting take out because we’re too tired to figure out what to make at home!
Recently I was given the opportunity to try a creative meal planning system.  Michelle, the owner/creator of the blog Make 5 Dinners in One Hour, said that with her meal plan, I could make five dinners in one hour.  Seriously??  Sign me up!

All the necessities!
So here’s the scoop, for only $15, Michelle will give you all the tools you need to make five dinners per week, for three months!  Each month you’ll receive a printable list that contains 20 recipes, a grocery list and cooking directions.  All you have to do is check the grocery list to see what you already have on hand, then make a quick stop at the store to grab the rest.  It’s all right there for you!
Here are a couple of meals that I prepped in an hour:

Mini Meatloaves w/sauce

Cheesy Chicken & Rice Casserole

I happened to already have most of the ingredients used in month of meal planning I received, so that made things so easy right off the bat.  It’s important to have plenty of plastic bags in both one quart, and one gallon sizes ready to use.  It’s super convenient storing meals in baggies, as opposed to using every pan and dish in the house!  (You can buy them cheap at the dollar store.)  I swear, when I was done getting all of the meals together and placed them in the refrigerator, I told my husband “I cannot believe I have a weeks worth of meal sitting in my fridge, ready to go!”  It was just so simple.  And Yes, it literally only took me an hour.  The only meat I had to cook was chicken, so I tossed that in a pan as soon as I started, and prepped everything else while it cooked and cooled down.  (Another option is to grab a rotiesserie chicken when you’re at the grocery store!)

Now, I’m sure you’re wondering how hard it was to put together, and of course, how the food tasted.  The meals were very easy to assemble.  So much so that I was skeptical of how good they would taste!  But let me tell you, everything we’ve tried so far has been really good.  Simple, tasty food that just happens to be easy to make!  The Black Bean & Corn Quesadillas were excellent!  (I had them for dinner, then again for lunch the next day.)  And the Cheesy Chicken & Rice Casserole was hearty and delicious.  Even my girls gobbled it up!

Dinner time!

My overall thought on Michelle’s Make 5 Dinners in One Hour is wonderful!!!  As an exhausted and busy mom, I thoroughly appreciate the sheer ease of having a week of dinners planned for me, for only $1.25 a week!  In other words, for less than the price of one fast food meal, you can have Michelle email you a month’s worth of recipes and instructions that can be made each week, in one hour.  It doesn’t get any better than that!
