Turkey Chili

Turkey Chili

Turkey chili is a hearty, healthier bowl of lean turkey, beans, and tomatoes simmered with warm spices. It is just as rich and satisfying as beef chili with less fat. Top it with your favorites for a cozy, protein-packed dinner.

Ingredients

  • 700 g ground turkey
  • 2 cans kidney beans
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground turkey with the onion in a pot.
  2. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, and tomato paste and cook 1 minute.
  3. Add the beans, tomatoes, and broth.
  4. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 25 to 30 minutes.
  5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve with cheese, sour cream, and green onions.

💡 Chef's tip

Let the chili simmer at least 25 minutes; the extra time melds the spices and thickens it into a rich, hearty bowl.

Browning the turkey well and blooming the spices in the pot builds deep flavor that lean turkey needs, since it has less fat to carry taste on its own.
