Classic Grilled Cheese
Golden, crunchy bread and a molten cheese center - the comfort sandwich done exactly right.

Ingredients
- 2 slices bread
- 60 g cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp butter
Instructions
- Spread mayo on the outside faces of the bread.
- Layer cheese between the slices.
- Cook in a pan over medium-low heat until golden.
- Flip, brown the other side, then slice and serve.
💡 Chef's tip
Cook it low and slow - high heat browns the bread before the cheese has a chance to melt.
Spreading mayonnaise instead of butter on the outside of the bread browns more evenly and crisps harder, because it has a higher smoke point and spreads cold.
